I am honored to have been asked to write this book about a beloved country doctor who dedicated his life to serving a vast area of southeast Saskatchewan for over six decades.

The book contains many excerpts from personal interviews conducted by filmmaker Jack Hilkewich during the making of his documentary, MAINPRIZE.  Jack devoted over 14 years to this project that started small and soon took on a life of its own.

Both the book and the documentary explore the connections we have - not only to other people but to the places we live and to the environment which can often challenge us but ultimately has a part in determining who we become.
